Meet Sophie

Born in Melbourne, Sophie first appeared on TV singing and dancing The Candy Man Can on Young Talent Time in 1985. She studied music performance at Victorian College of the Arts, went on to play in the viola section of the Melbourne, Adelaide, Tasmanian and West Australian Symphony Orchestras and has since worked on a variety of shows that leave audiences begging for more. Forget the stereotyped conservative classical musician!

Sophie presented a 13 week TV series, Sophie’s Wedding Guide, has appeared in TVCs and has studied TV presenting at NIDA. Since 2005 Sophie has played the lead role in Tango’s Violin in venues such as City Recital Hall (Sydney), The Famous Spiegeltent (Melbourne), Downstairs at The Maj (Perth) and Albury Entertainment Centre in sell out seasons. She’s danced in front of crowds of thousands with everyone from Harry Connick Jnr as a world first (just ask Harry about the trend Sophie started!) to a sexy tango with Clive James. She’s played with everyone from Katy Perry to KD Lang, Pavarotti to Air Supply, and performed everywhere from The Proms in London to Sydney Opera House to the AFL Grand Final.

Following a sell out lunchtime series concert, Sophie was commissioned to present and produce a show, Unstrung Heroes, for the opening of the 2007 Cabaret Soirée series at Downstairs at the Maj (Perth). Sophie has since presented this show in various cabaret venues around Australia. Sophie was a presenter on 3MBS Much Ado About Midday program demonstrating her knowledge of classical music in a relaxed manner. She’s performed in shows such as ‘Looking Through a Glass Onion’ with John Waters, acted in plays and has been interviewed on radio in English, Greek & Dutch. Sophie is known as a brilliant conversationalist who is passionate about life. She’s vibrant, entertaining and praised for her energy and versatility.
